Roanoke College offers a teacher licensure program, Professional Licensure Program (PLP), to graduates of regionally accredited institutions of higher learning. Graduates seeking program admission and completion must meet and maintain all requirements of the Roanoke College teacher licensure program as described in the college catalog including the minimum 2.5 GPA requirements. GPA Requirements for PLP
Required at the time of application for student teaching is a 2.5 overall GPA earned at the student's graduating institution and a 2.5 GPA in the major and/or teaching endorsement area earned at the student's graduating institution. The grade/grades earned in these courses may be calculated with the student's grades received at his or her graduating institution if it in no way compromises the intent of the minimum standard. Students seeking to use Roanoke College credits in the major to achieve a 2.5 GPA must submit a formal written appeal with justification to the chair of the Education program. Also required at the time of application for student teaching is a 2.5 GPA in education courses taken at Roanoke College. No more than half of the student's education courses may be transferred into Roanoke College, and at least one education methods course must be taken at Roanoke College. Students requesting the use of transferred education credit must submit a formal written appeal with justification to the chair of the Education program.
