Roanoke College has specific admission requirements for international students. To qualify for admission, international students should submit the online application form, send in all secondary school transcripts, and (for those whose first language is not English) take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have results sent to the college. The minimum TOEFL score for admission is 520 [190 computer-based test]. An advanced ESL course (LANG 221/222) is taught on campus each fall semester for credit. Students who score a minimum of 550 [213 CBT] are not required to enroll in the ESL course. Successful results on national examinations should also be submitted, as high scores may lead to advanced placement and credit toward the degree. Letters of recommendation and an autobiographical essay are recommended, but not required. An official bank statement indicating the availability of funds to support the student for one academic year must also be sent with the completed application. A limited number of generous scholarships and financial aid are available to highly qualified international students. Questions? Try international FAQ or Contact Admissions.
