F.A.T.E. (Future Alumni Training & Educating) is a group of campus leaders who are committed to the present and future success of Roanoke College. Members serve as ambassadors of the College and are given unique opportunities to network with alumni at various events on and off campus.

The focus of F.A.T.E. is to help educate students about the importance of supporting the College and to demonstrate how that support affects not only the amount of financial aid available to students but also the reputation of our alma mater. The group works closely with the professional staff in the offices of Resource Development and Alumni & Parent Relations to help meet fund-raising and “friend-raising” goals.

RC students today benefit from the support of alumni who came before them.

Support of the Roanoke Fund helps to strengthen the College’s ability to provide a high quality education by:

  • attracting promising students.
  • maintaining world-class faculty.
  • providing scholarships.
  • underwriting research.
  • creating new and innovative curricula.
  • renovating classrooms, laboratories and campus facilities.

Support of the Roanoke Fund helps to ensure that the value of a Roanoke College degree is maintained and enhanced.  As alumni support to the College increases, our rankings are improved in national publications, such as US News and World Report.  As the rankings improve, our reputation is enhanced, improving the value and marketability of a Roanoke degree.

Tuition covers only 52% of the cost of a Roanoke College education

The College relies on private support to close that gap.  This support comes in the form of annual gifts, gifts to the endowment, capital gifts and planned gifts which include life income and estate gifts.

"Roanoke College has given me such a wonderful education that I feel it necessary to give back to my alma mater every year. Everyone at RC is very supportive of the students (and of each other) and are willing to help in any way they can. That means a lot to me."
