Maroon Forever

Thought your life with Roanoke College would end upon graduation?  Think again!

The newly formed F.A.T.E. (Future Alumni Training & Educating), consisting of a team of Roanoke students dedicated to promoting their future alma mater, has set out this year to make other students aware of the importance of their post-graduation support for RC.

You may be surprised to learn that your tuition does not cover the cost of a Roanoke College education or that over 90% of Roanoke students receive some sort of financial aid. As a private institution, Roanoke relies heavily upon donations from alumni and friends to make up this difference and to meet annual budgetary requirements.  Financial support of The Roanoke Fund is the primary method for contributions. Funds raised help to provide the afore-mentioned scholarships and financial aid plus technology updates, new library resources, lab equipment, campus improvements and so much more.

Through the RC Phonathon and several other fundraising programs, our alumni have helped to make it possible for us to receive an education.  As we progress through our college years to alumni status, we should take to heart all that Roanoke has given us. With the hope of making the same opportunities available to others for years to come, we should plan to show our appreciation and gratitude by participating in these fundraising programs. In the words of our first RC president, Reverend David Bittle, “The most momentous duty from one generation to another is its education.”
