Colleges Hosts "Womens Forum"

SALEM, Va. —In honor of Women’s History Month, Roanoke College will host “The Women’s Forum,” a week-long celebration with lectures, films, discussions & performances that feature or focus on women in areas across the liberal arts to be held March 13-18, 2006. All events are free and do not require tickets unless otherwise noted below.

Monday, March 13

“Discussing Esther.” Noon. Colket Center Pickle Lounge.
“Affirmative Action in Higher Education,” lecture by Dr. Carol Swain ’83, Copenhaver Scholar-in-Residence.  4:30p.m., Colket Center Kime Meeting Room.                                            
Women Make Movies film series opener featuring “I, Doll” and “Your Name in Cellulite.” 
6 p.m. Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom.

Tuesday, March 14 

 Women Make Movies film screening of “Writing Desire.” Noon. Colket Center Pickle Lounge. 
  
 “Coffee Shop Conversations on Abortion Rights.” 5:30 p.m. and  6:30 p.m. Mill Mountain Coffee,
Main Street, Salem.

“Women in Leadership: A Panel Discussion with Top Female Executives.” 7:30 p.m. Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom  

Wednesday, March 15

Women Make Movies film screening of “Afghanistan Unveiled.” 4 p.m. Colket Center Pickle Lounge.

 “The Impact of Illegal Immigration on Historically Disenfranchised Groups,” lecture by
 Copenhaver Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Carol Swain ’83. 7:30 p.m. Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom. 

Thursday, March 16

Women Make Movies film screening of “Freedom Road.” Noon. Colket Center Pickle Lounge.

"Will the 21st Century Be a Continuation of the U.S. Leadership in Science and Technology?" lecture by Phi Beta Kappa Fellow Dr. Mary L. Good.  7:30 p.m. Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom. 
 
Friday, March 17

“Chicks and Giggles” Comedy Night. Featuring five of the best female stand-ups from New York City.  Tickets are $3 with RC ID/$8 for general admission.  Tickets available online at www.roanoke.edu/tickets or by calling (540) 378-5125. 8 p.m. Alumni Gym .

Saturday, March 18

Kandinsky Trio concert “Trio with Friends.” Cost is $20 general admission/$12 for seniors and
