Pedagogical Development

Recognizing that good teaching is a career-long process of growth and development, the Center for Learning and Teaching offers on-going support in pedagogical development to members of the Roanoke College faculty.  The goal of the Center’s pedagogical programs is to promote ongoing discussions and collaborations related to effective teaching, and to coordinate college resources in support of a talented and energetic faculty committed to student learning.  Support includes providing up-to-date resources and information on college teaching, offering workshops on the enhancement of learning and teaching in and out of the classroom, and funding attendance at teaching-related programs on and off campus.

Library Resources on Pedagogy

The Center sponsors a rich collection of current and classic books on the entire range of teaching and learning topics. The CLT collection includes books on effective teaching, assessment, portfolios, active learning, new department chairs, teaching first year students, lecturing, diversity, and many other topics in higher education. To suggest titles for the collection, contact marsh@roanoke.edu.
