Dining Services Statement of Purpose
Welcome to Dining Services. At Roanoke College, we understand that good nutrition is an
essential component of a successful education. We strive to provide our students, faculty, staff
and guests with a variety of well-balanced meals, made from the finest quality ingredients. We
are dedicated to promoting a more sustainable environment by incorporating organic and local
foods into our delicious and imaginative cuisine. We are committed to our efforts to "go green"
by reducing and recycling our waste.
Dining Services has been a strong force in the college's mission to become more sustainable.
We have an extensive recycling and waste reduction program and have adopted a sustainability
policy with a focus on reducing waste, conserving resources and purchasing from local producers
to the extent possible.
Meal Plans
Roanoke College Dining Service is self-operated and proud to provide your culinary experiences during
meals and campus events. Students may use their meal plan in the Commons or the Cavern,
our "grab and go" establishment. Any unused scans at the end of the semester will be
forfeited. Flexible dining hours have been designed to accommodate your busy schedule.
Continuous Service - Monday through Friday
7 am-7:30 am - Continental Breakfast
7:30 am-10 am - Full Breakfast
10 am-11 am - Continental Breakfast
11 am-11:30 am - Salad/Deli/Soup/Pasta Bar
11:30 am-2 pm - Full Lunch
2 pm-3 pm - Salad/Deli/Soup/Pasta/Burger/Hot Dog Bar
3 pm-4:30 pm - Salad/Deli/Soup/Pasta Bar
4:30 pm-7:30 pm - Full Dinner (Close at 7:00pm on Friday)
Continuous Service - Saturday and Sunday
9:30 am-10:30 am - Continental Breakfast
10:30 am-2 pm - Full Brunch
2 pm-4:30 pm - Salad/Deli/Soup Bar (Pasta Bar @ 3pm)
4:30 pm-7:00 pm - Full Dinner
Plan Type with Semester Costs and Included Guest Passes
19 Meal Plan per Week (Mandatory for freshmen residents): $2,610, 3 guest passes
14 Meal Plan per Week: $2,155, 2 guest passes
9 Meal Plan per Week (Commuter, Elizabeth Campus, Afton Hall): $1,385, 0 guest passes
