PAL Structure & Purpose

Structure/Membership:

The Parents Associate Leadership (PAL) is a leadership group of Roanoke College Parents that represents those parents who are members of the Associates Program and who are leading benefactors of the College.  The Chair serves as an ex-officio member on the Roanoke College Board of Trustees.  Staff liaison for the Council is the Director of Development and Director of Regional Programs.

Purpose:

  1. To provide Roanoke with parental insight and support of various programs on campus; i.e. Orientation Weekend, Family Weekend, etc;
  2. To encourage parent participation in programs, activities, and events to support their son's or daughter's education at Roanoke
  3. To encourage parent participation and support of the Roanoke College Parents Fund and other fundraising priorities;
  4.  To assist the Admissions Office in the recruitment effort of prospective students by lending their name to communications;

Responsibilities:

  • Attend the Parent Associates Leadership annual meeting during Family Weekend,  the Spring Weekend and various area events and meetings as scheduled;
  • Support of the Parents Fund and/or other fundraising priorities annually;
  • Assist the college with on-campus receptions and activities for parents during Orientation Weekend and Family Weekend;

Attend and host alumni chapter events; i.e., admissions receptions, presidential dinners/receptions as requested.
