For PC: Click on the link that corresponds to the resolution of your screen. Right click on the image that appears in the new window and choose 'set as background' (Internet Explorer) 'set as wallpaper' (Netscape) from the pull down menu. If you don't know the resolution size of your monitor, start with 640x480 and work your way up.
For MAC: Click on the resolution size of your monitor, then hold the mouse button for two seconds over the image that loads, and choose "Save this image as..." or "Download Image to Disk" from the menu that pops up. After you download the image, open the "Appearance" Control Panel, under the apple menu items. Click on the tab marked "Desktop" and choose "Place Picture". Find your image in the window that pops up and double click it. Finally click on "Set Desktop".
