Education Department

At Roanoke College, you can combine a liberal arts education with a Teacher License Program, resulting in an excellent position to meet the challenges and complexities of teaching in an elementary or secondary classroom. Forty-six states and U.S. territories, including the District of Columbia, recognize teacher licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

International Education

Through our comparative education travel courses and international student teaching placements, students may study abroad, interning in U.S. Department of Defense Schools or in accredited international schools.

Teaching English Language Learners

Students may earn licensure to teach English as a Second Language in PK-12 public and private schools. A concentration in TESL is also available to Roanoke College students who are interested in teaching English to speakers of other languages in other venues in the United States and abroad.

Do you already have an undergraduate degree and wish to teach?

At Roanoke College you can complete a teacher licensure only program. If you have a liberal arts degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, we can provide the courses you'll need to secure a teaching license for a PreK-12 classroom.  Learn more.
