The Office of Multicultural Affairs at Roanoke College exists to aid in the development of a more diverse and inclusive environment for all. The office is committed to providing support services and promoting cultural activities that will create an awareness of and appreciation for cultural diversity.

The objective of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to improve the overall quality of life for students on our campus by developing and implementing educational, cultural, and social programs that will assist the College in recruiting, retaining, and graduating a diverse community of students.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is a department of Academic Affairs and works collaboratively with Student Affairs, Office of Admissions, Academic Services, Financial Aid, and Residence Life to meet the academic, social, and personal needs of students.

Cross-Cultural Programming/Offering- An important part of the mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to educate the entire campus community on issues of diversity and multiculturalism by providing and recommending qualified speakers. These multicultural speakers offer valuable insight to the campus.

Diversity training is a program offered at Roanoke. This training breaks down the barriers, challenges the stereotypes, and strives to learn from the differences in people, cultures, and global community. The Office of Multicultural Affairs staff is available to provide interactive training on topics for faculty and staff, student organizations, departments, and residence halls. The Office of Multicultural Affairs also is very adamant on building positive relationships between faculty, staff and students and do so on various trips throughout the school year to enjoy the sights, gain valuable experiences and bond with one another.
