Roanoke breaks enrollment records ![]()
Each year, the Roanoke College campus is a center for activity in Salem. This year, Roanoke welcomed its largest ever freshman class. The class of 2011, which boasts 566 members, has begun already to make an impact at Roanoke. Residence halls and classrooms are filled with the energy that these new students bring with them from 40 states and 18 countries. This year the College's enrollment is over 2000 students for the first time in the school's history. With 2,006 enrolled students-over half of whom are from Virginia-Roanoke is growing and changing in many ways. Construction is underway on what will become the campus's freshman complex. Three existing residence halls (Mt. Tabor, Shenandoah and Blue Ridge) will be connected to make up the largest residence hall space at Roanoke. As the Roanoke College community begins this new academic year, it is perhaps a bit more busy than usual. In addition to the welcoming record numbers of new and returning students to campus, we will celebrate the inauguration of Roanoke's 11th president, Michael C. Maxey, in October. Faculty, staff and students are, as usual, busily working to make Roanoke College Virginia's leading liberal arts college and are excited to celebrate these enrollment records and Roanoke's new leadership as we look to the future.
