The Bondurant Fund, like the Summer Scholar Program, offers $2,500 plus free housing for the summer, but this program is designed for students interested in chemistry.
Gail Steehler, director of the Bondurant Fund and professor of chemistry, says, "Our students learn what it means to do research, which is the lifeblood of what we are and what we do. They also gain a sense of empowerment from creating - and owning - knowledge." Every year several students in math and the sciences who are not Summer Scholars or Bondurant Scholars receive special funding for summer research on campus, supported by faculty research grants.
