Anime Club - anime@roanoke.edu Anime club is an open and active community for fans of Japanese animation and related arts, as well as promoting anime-related activities on campus and the local community. Our activites include weekly showings of anime, movie nights, group outings, and various other anime-related activites. Colleges Against Cancer - cac@roanoke.edu This organization sponsors the annual all-night "Relay For Life" event to raise funds in the fight against cancer. College Bowl - collegebowl@roanoke.edu College Bowl is an inter-collegiate competition of the mind! It’s a quick response questions and answer format game that is played in teams. Each year, the College Bowl team sponsors a campus competition with prizes awarded to the winning teams. An “all-star” team is selected to compete against other schools in a regional tournament. The RC College Bowl Team was the Region 5 Winner in 2002 and competed for the National Championship! College Democrats - democrats@roanoke.edu This organization's major objective is to stimulate interest in Democratic Party politics. Membership is open to all student Democrats and the organization can be contacted through campus mail. This group is inactive at this time. Ethics Bowl Team - ethicsbowl@roanoke.edu The Ethics Bowl Team is a group of students who talk about ethics and the practice thereof pertaining to particular cases. It is similiar to a debate team in that we present arguments and defend them in a competition. The competition is held annually and we work up to this competition that we, among other Virginia schools, participate in. The purpose of the club is discussion of ethical issues and the main activity that we participate in is the annual Ethics Bowl. Founder's Ball Committee - foundersball@roanoke.edu The Founder’s Ball Committee has the responsibility of producing the annual semi-formal ball held in November that is produced in conjunction with Founder’s Day. The Founder’s Ball is an extravaganza featuring great music, delicious food, and lavish set designs. This is one of the programming committees of the Campus Activities Board. MPower - mpower@roanoke.edu This peer health education group promotes making smart choices regarding overall student health issues as well as responsible alcohol use. MPOWER sponsors Alcohol Awareness activities, such as Friday Night Dry, and Safe Spring Break activities along with other health related campus events. This group is a fun and energetic bunch of students who are naturally high and plan exciting activities for all students. Mu Beta Psi - mubetapsi@roanoke.edu Mu Beta Psi is a nationally recognized co-educational music fraternity for both music majors and non-music majors. Omicron Delta Kappa - odk@roanoke.edu ODK is a national leadership fraternity. Membership is by invitation, and the selection criteria are based on GPA, service, and campus leadership. The society sponsors both academic and co-curricular events. RC Expanded - rcexpand@roanoke.edu RC Expanded is a committee of the Campus Activities Board. Its main purpose is to provide students with the opportunity to go to entertaining off-campus events in the surrounding community. RC Films - rcfilms@roanoke.edu This Campus Activities Board committee produces events utilizing videos & movies. They are responsible for selecting and scheduling all of the movies shown on the College’s closed -circuit TV movie channel, the “CAB Channel,” channel 66 on your dial. They produce movies and commercials to be shown the CAB Channel, also. If you like movies, or making your own videos, you’ll love RC Films! Student Wellness Awareness Team (SWAT) Although open to all students on campus, this is a group of students interested in health and human performance, and its mission is to promote physical activity and healthy living behaviors in general. Some of the group's initiatives have included Midnight Madness, Glow in the Dark Volleyball, and organizing a 5K fun walk/run. The group chooses officers annually, and the advisor for the group is Cheryl Staver from the department of Health and Human Performance. Sexual Assualt Awarenesss and Recovery Team - saart@roanoke.edu To promote awareness and education on the issue of sexual assault with an emphasis on proactive measures and prevention. Social Awareness Group for Everyone - sage@roanoke.edu SAGE is a student-led activist group providing the campus and the community opportunities to learn about and get involved in social activism. Our goal is to promote awareness and encourage activisim in and around our community. Tech Crew - techcrew@roanoke.edu Employed by the Colket Center, this group of students works many of the Campus Activities Board and other student organizations' shows. Their responsibilities include performing stage crew functions, assisting entertainers, operating soundboards and stage lights, and running movie projectors.
