Monday, November 12
"Oh Calcutta, 2007"
Dr. Ranajoy Bhattacharyya, Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence
Images from Calcutta, India with discussion on contemporary India.

Tuesday, November 13
"Blood Diamond"
An ex-mercenary turned smuggler (Leonard DiCaprio) and a Mende fisherman (Djimon Hounsou)
join to recover a rare pink diamond and rescue the fisherman's son, conscripted as a child soldier
in Sierra Leone's civil war. Discussion with Dr. Ann Genova, Assistant Professor of History.

An amazing true story of strength, courage, and achievement in the face of adversity. A diverse group of at-risk African-American, Latino, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Caucasian high school students shatter stereotypes and rechart their futures with the support of an idealistic young teacher (Hilary Swank).
