SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College's two a cappella groups will perform at a winter concert on Tuesday, December 4 at 8 p.m. in the Wortmann Ballroom. Mainstreet, the women's group, will perform as will the all-male group Looking for an Echo. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Looking for an Echo was founded in the spring of 1996 by members of the Roanoke College Choir as an all-male a cappella group. The group released its first album in 1997. LFE performs on campus, in the community and at other colleges. The group also has gone on tours in an effort to recruit students for the College. LFE has released three studio albums.

Mainstreet was founded in 1999 and is a student-led group of female singers. They too sing in area venues as well as on campus, performing popular songs such as "Behind Those Hazel Eyes" (Kelly Clarkson) and "Material Girl" by Madonna. Mainstreet currently has 15 members.

Roanoke College, the country's second oldest Lutheran-related college, is an independent, co-educational, four-year liberal arts college. Roanoke is one of just 276 colleges nationwide with a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society. The Princeton Review names Roanoke as one of the "best in the Southeast." Roanoke's 2,000 students represent 40 states across the U.S. and 26 foreign countries.
