SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College's Fowler Lecture with Alan Dershowitz, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. has been canceled. Unfortunately, Mr. Dershowitz is ill and will not be able to visit the campus this week.

Roanoke College will attempt to reschedule with Mr. Dershowitz for a lecture on a future date.

The Fowler lecture program serves as a forum for public affairs on the Roanoke College campus. Since its initiation in 1983, the program has brought to campus such political figures as former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford; former U.N. ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick; former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and Lawrence Eagleburger; civil rights leaders Julian Bond and Andrew Young; and former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Visiting Fowler scholars have also included educators like former Commissioner of Education Earnest Boyer, and journalists such as Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Ellen Goodman and political columnist James Kilpatrick. This lecture program is made possible through an endowment by Henry H. Fowler, his friends and family and Roanoke College. The lecture also is sponsored by Temple Emanuel.
