"Defending our Humanity: FCNL's Work to End the Use of Torture."

Roanoke College announces a lecture titled "Defending our Humanity: FCNL's Work to End the Use of Torture," which will take place Monday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m., Garrett Room, Colket Center. Heather Brutz, director of the Young Adult Program at the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), will speak on torture as a moral issue and the extent to which the use of torture dehumanizes the victim and the torturer.

Brutz will talk about the U.S. government's use of torture and how we as ordinary citizens can work to end that practice. The Friends Committee on National Legislation is the Quaker lobbying organization in Washington, D.C.

This event is sponsored by SAGE (Student Awareness Group for Everyone), FSLC (Faculty Staff Learning Community), Plowshare Peace Center and the Roanoke Quaker Meeting.
