1st or 2nd faculty meeting

If needed, faculty approve remaining IL proposals for the upcoming May term.

September 15

In consultation with Assoc. Dean, IL Director submits to the registrar a final list of approved IL Courses to be offered during the following May (with course fees where applicable).

Mid-October

Faculty prepare to advise advisees to take an IL course, esp. current sophomores and juniors.

October 15

Workload plans are due (to Assoc. Dean Ed Whitson) for next three academic years, including projections for IL courses.

End-October -- early November

Students enroll in May IL courses during spring term pre-registration. Pre-registration continues through spring term.

Fall Term

Student can request IL financial aid (deadline for submission is early Feb.) -- contact Financial Aid office.

November 15

Student deadline for submitting an application for an IL Independent Study or Internship to be completed during upcoming spring term. (No other course can be taken at the same time).

December 1

Student deadline for deposits on IL travel courses.

Spring Term

Registration for IL courses continues.

Mid-January

IL faculty should order videos for use in IL courses (via dept. or Media Services).

Mid-January

With Dean Hines et al., planning begins for May student housing, activities, etc.

Late January

Student deadline for submitting final payment for IL travel courses.

Early February

Student deadline for submitting IL financial aid application.

February 1

Faculty deadline for submitting new or substantially revised IL course proposals to IL Director.

March 15

Il course proposals (new and substantially revised) submitted by IL Director to Curriculum Committee (for consideration at April faculty meeting).

Mid-March

For non-roster faculty teaching IL, chair must contact the Associate Dean about wage and contract issues.

Mid-March

IL Faculty submit IL book orders to the bookstore.

March

IL Faculty submit copyrighted reserve items for IL May course to library.

Feb. & March

Clinics offered by Health Services for students enrolled in IL May travel courses.

Early April

IL faculty reserve vans for May term (at www.roanoke.edu/safety/reservat.htm).

April 1

Student deadline for submitting an application for an IL Independent Study or IL Internship to be completed during May. (No other course can be taken at the same time).

Room sign-up for IL students residing on campus during May.

Move-in and check-in day for IL students residing on campus.

Move-out day for IL students from campus housing.

Final IL grades due to registrar.

Last day to submit work to professor for any "IN" grade received in the IL term
