Admission Procedure
Admission to the BA program in Economics requires the approval of the department chairperson. An application should be submitted as soon as a student becomes interested in the major and shows evidence of possessing the quantitative and analytical skills required to satisfactorily complete this major.
Students should review carefully the chart of Economics Requirements and Prerequisites.
Course Requirements
Students majoring in Economics are required to complete a minimum of 10 courses in Economics, including 121, 122, 232, 321, 322, and 461. They must also take Business Administration 258. Business Administration 125 and 225 are recommended for those students whose career plans might include an accounting component. Although students may take Principles, Economics 121 and 122, in either order, the recommended sequence is 121 followed by 122. Note that Statistics 101 and Mathematics 111 or 112 are prerequisites for Economics 321 and 322.
