Australearn
Australearn is the leading provider of access to a variety of distinguished universities in Australia and New Zealand. Roanoke College joined Australearn as an affiliated institution in 2006, allowing Roanoke students to live and study in the dynamic cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in Australia; and in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in New Zealand. Australian and New Zealand universities offer a wide range of courses, all taught in English, with special features in the environment, business administration, social services, commonwealth history and politics, and Southeast Asian cultures.

Cost
Roanoke College students pay their tuition, fees, room and board to Roanoke College. A limited number of scholarships are available directly from Australearn on application and Roanoke students may request to have their financial aid applied to the costs of a term or year with Australearn. The competition for award of financial aid to support study abroad takes place each Fall term with a deadline of December 1 for the completed Roanoke College application.
Application Deadlines and Procedures
Roanoke students must apply to Australearn through the College's study abroad office in Room 206 of the Administration Building. An initial application to the College for permission to study abroad is followed by the formal application to Australearn, accompanied by a $30 application fee, a letter of recommendation, an official transcript, and four photographs. The deadline for applying financial aid to study abroad is December 1. The deadline to apply to Australearn without financial aid is April 1 for Fall term (begins in July) and November 1 for the Spring term (begins in February). Students must have a 2.5 GPA to study abroad; some Australearn institutions require a higher GPA.
